These visits were more frequent when I lived in Manhattan as I could arrive by train. On one of these trips, it turned out that my friend Steve from law school (whom I briefly dated post law school) had moved there with his new wife and stepson and the son attended school with my friend Julie’s son Jake. Small world and was fun to put the parents together for the evening for dinner. In the present day, I decided to just drive through on my way from Massachusetts to Rhode Island. I tried to stop in Hartford to photograph a few of its very cool buildings but found safe parking elusive. Places to go would be Simsbury, a more upscale small town has a great ice cream spot on a farm (Tulmeadow Farm – just go when the wind is not blowing certain directions) and Canton, with its rolling hills, farms and dairies. As you approach Rhode Island to the south, there is a nice scenic drive that goes through Chester, a very cute town. Another pretty place to go is New Haven. Lots of cool consignment shops and cafes as one would expect for a college town. I don’t seem to have photos as many of my visits were pre iPhone storage days. Bridgeport is supposed to be quite lovely but I did not make it there – though nearby there is a Pez museum which I definitely would have toured had I gone that direction.

Return to home

Mostly past trips – drove through April 2023 Over the years I spent a decent amount of time in Connecticut visiting my friend Julie over the many years she lived there.
